Vital Services & Enriching Connections

Metro Schools offers a wide range of programs and services to ensure Nashville’s students and families are fully supported, in and out of the classroom.

As you will find in this section of the website, our schools not only provide healthy meals and safe transportation, but also vital, coordinated services through our Family and Student Support team that contribute to the mental, emotional and social health of students, their families and school communities.

Qualified professionals such as school counselors, psychologists, school health nurses, social workers and qualified, caring staff from community agencies provide wrap-around services that support students and families. Our family engagement team works hard to create informational and useful content and training for students and families that focuses on well-being. And, our district staff provide free drop-in tech support at four school locations every week. All in the effort to support our students and their families.

Community Ties and Partnerships

Our schools also connect deeply with volunteers and partners to introduce our students to programs and opportunities that enhance their education and lives. Our district's Family Resource Centers, also known as FRCs, offer services tailored to their specific school community and offer services such as GED classes, English-language classes, counseling, parenting classes, and some health services. Services are in partnership with a variety of providers, residents, businesses and faith-based organizations. Before and after-care programs that offer safe and enriching experiences also are among the district’s important services.

We also have strong connections with community partners and two important programs, Community Achieveswhich partners with organizations and volunteers to provide wrap-around services, and the H.E.R.O. program for families in transition, or experiencing homelessness, and helps students and their families with resources and services.

And, as the challenging year 2020 showed, our schools and staff are key support and much-needed community connectors. Our educators and staff worked tirelessly – as they always do – to help families recover from a tornado, to provide food for students and families, to provide instruction and technical help virtually and to discover and access necessary services in uncertain times.

Services for Students & Families

The MNPS Healthy Youth Community Resource Guide was created by our staff to list resources and support offered in our community to children and families. Discover support organizations in many areas, including health, academic support, college and career programs, mental health and more.

The Student Resources section offers information for student academic success, well-being support and the Student-Parent Handbook.
