2018 School Choice Festival
January 22, 2018 | 5-7 p.m. | Tennessee State fairgrounds
VISIT EVERY METRO SCHOOL IN ONE PLACE IN ONE Evening AT OUR SCHOOL CHOICE FESTIVAL! LEARN ABOUT SCHOOL OPTIONS FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR AND SEE WHY "EXCELLENCE IS EVERYWHERE" IN METRO SCHOOLS!
WHAT IS SCHOOL CHOICE?
Families with children attending Metro Schools have the choice of sending their children to their neighborhood school or to another school in our district.
WHAT IS THE SCHOOL CHOICE FESTIVAL?
The festival is the first step for families to learn about their school choices and to begin finding the right school for them. Families are given the opportunity to meet teachers, learn more about school programs, sign up for school tours and visit with as many schools as they like.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The festival is the first step for families to learn about their choices and start to find the right school for their child. This is the only time all Metro Schools - neighborhood, magnet, charter, and more - are in one room together.
This year, the festival takes place after the optional schools application opens. The 2018-19 school choice application process will begin January 10, 2018. The application deadline will be February 2, 2018. Families will have more time to apply before the random selection process. Many families move during winter break, so this change will allow more time for families to prepare for the application process.
