Community Achieves

Linking Students & Families to Opportunities & Resources

Community Achieves is an MNPS school initiative, led by the district's Family and Community Support Staff, linking students and families to enrichment opportunities and vital community resources. We work closely with partners and volunteers to provide wrap-around services to our students and families.

Partners and volunteers bring their expertise and desire to make all the difference in the lives of children and families by providing support for things such as academics, extra-curricular activities, and working with us to remove any barriers to learning.

Our Efforts are Focused on Four Crucial Pillars of Support

As you consider volunteering with us, take a look at the areas we focus on. It will help you identify how best to share your talent and time.

How You Can Get Involved with Community Achieves

There are a wide variety of ways you can volunteer your time and share your knowledge, time, resources in our schools - from volunteering to being a lunch buddy to beautifying a classroom.

The interactive map on this page will help you locate schools, and it includes the contact information for each school's site coordinator.

Partner with Us in Schools

Individuals, groups, non-profits and organizations can get involved with Community Achieves and make a real difference in our schools, and community. How to get started:

Family Resource Centers

Family Resource Centers are a Tennessee Department of Education program developed in 1993.

Tennessee Family Resource Centers - FRCs - proactively engage with their communities to empower students and families, bridging gaps to ensure they evolve together through connected systems of support unique to each community.

In Metro Nashville Public Schools, we have FRCs at the following schools:

  • Cole Elementary
  • Glencliff High School
  • Tusculum Elementary

So, What Can You Do as a Volunteer?

Here are some examples of how you, or your agency, can work, organize, or participate:

  • After-school programs
  • Lunch buddies
  • Drives for things such as food and clothing
  • Teacher appreciation events
  • Beautification of classrooms and schools tutoring
