Register for School

Welcome to Metro Nashville Public Schools. We look forward to knowing your child and partnering with your family during your student's academic career. This section will take you through the steps needed to register your child for school - and connect you to staff who can walk you through if necessary.

  1. We offer simple online registration and on this page you will find instructions and a list of required documents to help you enroll online.
  2. Please review the pre-enrollment information to see if you need additional information or steps before enrolling your student.
  3. If you prefer, or need help, you can register in person at your nearest Enrollment Center. There are several across Davidson County for your convenience.

Pre-Enrollment Information

Are you looking for your neighborhood school? Exploring an optional school? Applying for Pre-K?

Some students and programs have additional steps, applications or requirements. Review the categories that best fit your student to get complete enrollment requirements information before you begin the process.

Your School Options

There's a school for every learner at Metro Schools—from neighborhood schools to magnet schools to specialty schools and a virtual school.

  • Read the the Find My School page to learn about the choices you have for your child.
  • Use the zone finder tool to discover your neighborhood schools.
  • Check out the zoned school pathway maps to see the schools your child will attend as they grow.
  • Visit the Schools Directory for a full list of Metro Schools.
  • Some families have the choice between two different school zones. This is called Zone Option Schools.
  • Take a look at the wide range of Magnet and Optional Schools for your student.

Pre-K and Kindergarten

Applying for Pre-K

  • Pre-K follows a different process and requires an application in addition to registration.

  • Find more information on the Pre-K application page.

Incoming Kindergartners

  • All rising Kindergarten students must register for school, even if they attended an MNPS Pre-K last year or if they are using the school options process. Families can register online or make an appointment at an Enrollment Center.

  • There is a streamlined registration process in the Campus Portal for current Pre-K students.

Early Learning Website

English Learners

If English is not the first language for you and your family, your child should be enrolled through the Office of English Learners. During the enrollment process, your child will be assessed to determine if they are eligible for English Learner services.

Do You Need a Translator?

Do you need a translator or speak a language other than English at home? Look for translation support and registration information on the English Learners Registration page.
