Summer Reading Challenge Resources

Encouraging a love of reading in our students starts with us! Metro Schools is partnering with the Nashville Public Library to challenge students of all ages and their families to read at least 20 minutes a day, every day, throughout the summer. We know our district is laser-focused on literacy - and we can support that work outside of the classroom by modeling a love of reading.

This page includes resources and information for principals, teachers and families to use throughout the summer to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.

Marquee competition

Please promote the Summer Reading Challenge on your school's marquee to remind students to continue reading throughout the summer. We're hosting a competition for the most creative message and the winner will be displayed at July's A&S meeting and the principal will receive a special prize. Please submit photos of your marquee to Katea Jones.
