Students entering kindergarten for the school year 2022-2023 can now register. Here's some information about what your student can expect in kindergarten, and details on how to register.
This is an exciting time for many families, and for some families it will be the first time your child goes to school. There’s so much to love about our kindergarten classrooms:

The first step in getting ready for kindergarten is registering for school. Here are some important steps:
Choose a School
Find your zoned school a couple of ways:
- search your address on the Find My School webpage.
- by calling the Family Information Center at 615-259-INFO(4636).
If you wish to apply for a school outside your zone, call the Family Information Center at 615-259-INFO for details.
Gather All Required Documents
- Record of Birth (birth certificate, passport, visa, I-94) - Children must turn five years old on or before August 15, 2022.
- Tennessee (TN) Immunization Record - An official TN Immunization Certificate from your child’s medical provider or any Metro Public Health Clinic.
- Proof of a Physical - Physical examination must have been performed within one year of the date of enrollment.
- Proof of Davidson County Residency - Current (30 days or less) utility or telephone bill, lease or homeowner policy in the parent/guardian name.
- Parent/Guardian Photo ID - Parent/Guardian must be present if registering in person.
Register Online for Kindergarten
All families can visit the Metro Schools registration webpage to register online using the Online Registration Portal.
Registration for English Learners
If another language besides English is spoken in the home, families can register online, however will also need to call the Office of English Learners to make an appointment for language testing, known as an EL Assessment, at 615-259-8608 or via email to the department.
Need Help Registering or with Translation?
If you cannot register online, contact your nearest Enrollment Center to make a kindergarten registration appointment.
